It was a beautiful sunny day on Saturday for the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market Thing Spring Event... I had a great table with nice Vendor Neighbors... I met alot of nice people & had a fun time... Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by... The Vendor across from me as seen in the above photo had an amazing St. Patricks & Easter Day display’s... I also uploaded some video I took on Saturday on my You Tube Channel - www.youtube.com/user/zandeartistryllc ... The ladies next to me had my favorite addiction - Raw Michigan Made Honey and the Vendor to my right was selling Organic Gluetin Free Cookies... This is a well travelled market supporting Michigan Farmer’s... Thank you so much again to Gwen for inviting me...

Please come out & join me - I will be at the Royal Oak Farmers tomorrow from 7:00am-1:00pm for my booksigning... It is supposed to a beautiful spring like day with tempreatures in the 40’s... I will have both copies of ~ pages ~ available - they will sell for $5.00 per copy with $1.00 from every copy donated to help dogs with neurological conditions... Thank you so much again to Gwen The Market Master for inviting me back... I hope to see some of you there... Please visit my Appearances Page for location & information...

I have been working on my vocal peices this week for ~ window preview ~ - somewhat of a challenge for me as I always say vocals are the one part that I have work at... Not that I dont have to work at everything else, I just don’t consider vocal’s my strong pointe... All vocalists no matter how great they are gifted still have to work at their craft, & I have always had the highest respect for them... It’s a gift to be able to create & present your voice to the world...

I am finishing up last minute items for my booksigning tommorrow...

Next update on Monday - I may do an update tommorrow - follow me on Twitter, Facebook & MySpace in between if you are online...

Please come out and join me if you are out... They have some of the best produce in the metro area... Thank you so much to Gwen the Market Master for inviting me back...

I am working on more flyers into the Tampa & Clearwater cities this week... Last week I additionally started looking for cities in Canada and Europe that would host my flyers & I will let you know...

I am sad to say that the Book Mark Bookstore/Cafe on Mission Street in Mount Pleasant, Michigan will be closing in two weeks - due to the economy & the competition of internet stores... This is the fourth independent bookstore that I have had ~ pages ~ in that has been affected by online sales and the economy... This was the first bookstore that took ~ pages ~ in and gave it a front row seat next to Maya Angelou on the front row of their poetry shelves... They are also the first store I was inivited to for a booksigning and invited back again and again... Kris the maager is the ncest person with a great knowledge of written material in books, magazines, and all other media from well known author’s to independent and hard to find great reads... Everyone at the Book Mark could help you with anything you were looking for or suggest something you would not normally find in the mainstream ... The Book Mark has three locations, and unfortunately - all three locations will be closing... Thank you to Kris and everyone at the Book Mark for supporting my work... www.bookmarkmp.com ...

I will be attending the Open Mic next week at the Coffee Beanery on Woodward Ave. in Berkely, Michigan as the first of a series of Open Mics - www.coffeebeanery.com ...

“mozart on ice” video shoot - photo taken by: victoria zande

My video for Mozart on Ice in the first movement is now hosted on my You Tube Channel - www.youtube.com/user/zandeartistryllc ... It  was delayed over the weekend... I uploaded it yesterday afternoon, and I had to make sure it fully loaded with the video quality complete before I listed it on here... Please let me know what you think... It is hosted in four segements, so please view all four... Thank you again to my cousin Jeff (DOC Fletcher) for taking the video footage of me... I wanted to get all three trees in this shoot, therefore, you don’t see a closer video of myself... My favorite part to the performance video was to be able to hear the birds in the background as I played... This is a completely unedited version and a true live performance... I had to wear winter gloves with the finger’s cut out as the tempreature was 46 degrees at 9:00am on 18 November...

Please join me on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm for my booksigning at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Holiday Market... The Royal Oak Farmer’s Market is located on 11 Mile Road just East of Woodward... I will have both version of ~ pages ~ available and bookmark handouts...

I did my video shoot for “Mozart on Ice” on Wednesday morning... I was up at 5:00am after being up until 1:00am to get ready for the shoot... I was out on the site a few day’s before that marking the spots for the shoot... This is a completely unedited video and live performance that was done in one take... What you will see is three seperate segments on You Tube...  I was amazed I got it right on the first take - it was a great Birthday gift as Wednesday was my Birthday... It was about 46 degress and sunny at 9:00am when my cousin DOC Fletcher and I shot the video... My cousin DOC is also an author-former Marketing Salesperson for Duracell and did a great job... Thank you so much DOC for coming out and assisitng me... I will have more details after it’s up on You Tube next week...

Good Monday Morning - it’s cloudy and 42 degress in Detroit this morning...

I got final approval late Friday afternoon for my video shoot for this week... I am excited to be able to take my small peice of work on the ground that I requested... I do not know if I will be performing Mozart on Ice in all three movements for this video, as I want to be able to produce a video with a complete peice of music... As I said on Friday, I am not fan of watching myself on video so I don’t do alot of visual peices with me in it... I will tell you that the place I chose for this is exceptionally special to me, and I am honored to have permission to use the site... It will be a somewhat colder day, so I will have to dress warmer for the occasion...

I will be checking back in with all of the cafe’s I did booksignings & performances this year to see if they will be interested in carrying my booksmark handouts for the holidays... I will let you know which ones next week.... I do know that the Schuler Books & Music on 28th Street in Grand Rapids & Downtown Grand Rapids still have handouts available...

This week - my flyers will be hosted in two Tampa, Florida cafe’s - Nola Cafe and Sacred Grounds... Thank you again to both of these cafes for taking them in...

I mailed out the flyer’s to two cafes in Tampa... Nola Cafe on Platt Street that I told you about in my last update & Sacred Grounds on Bush Blvd - www.sacredgroundstampa.com - I was also invited to do a booksigning when I am in the area... Thank you to Karen at Sacred Grounds for the booksigning invitation & hosting my flyer...

I have been working on the music all week, although music for me is an ongoing process... I am almost sure I got the approval for my video site - although I am going to have to shoot the video in the next week before the weather gets too cold to do an outside shoot...  My goal is to present this video of Mozart on Ice in all three movements... I have go to on record as saying - I am not a fan of video for myself... It’s hard enough to have to listen to yourself sing on play back - although, I don’t really like to have to watch myself after the video taping...

I have my booksigning on 3 December coming up at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Holiday Market... This is a special market on Thursday 3 December from 4-8pm...

First open mic date in the next two weeks...

Next update on Monday or Tuesday...

Thank you so much for reading & listening...

Thank you so much for visiting...

9 November, 2009

It’s an ecxeptionally warm 70 degree’s and cloudy in Motown today...

The first of my flyer’s will be in a cafe in Florida... Nola Cafe on Platt Street in Tampa will host one of my flyers by the end of this week - www.nolacafe.com ... Thank you so much to Chad for accepting my flyer at Nola Cafe...

Worked this weekend on more music and the layout for ~ back pages ~ ... Orginally I wanted to shoot the Mozart on Ice video outside, and if it stay’s warm, then I will still be able to do this, although I will have to wait and see in the next two weeks - if not it will be an indoor concept... This is not a big video shoot, just an independent effort to showxase a peice of my work...

Open mic next week sometime, and I will let you know... I did blog on myspace over the weekend, and was going to do a second one, so I will probably be doing another one in the next few day’s as I continue to work...

Next update on Thursday or Friday...

6 November, 2009

It’s a sunny but cool day in the Motorcity...  I have been working all week on my music, although not as much on ~back pages ~ , I traded one for the other this week... The artwork and liner notes for ~ window preview ~ were completed a while ago...

I am currently working on getting my flyer’s into cafe’s in Tampa and Clearwater while I continue to work on getting ~ pages ~ into an independent bookstore in that area... I am excited at the possibility of having my work in one of my second home states... I will let you know which cafes I send them too... I may also send bookmark handouts...

If you are not located in a city (domestic or international) close to one of the bookstore’s that ~ pages ~ is in - you can call any of the bookstores - order by phone, and they will be happy to ship it to you...

2 November, 2009

It’s only the second day in November & the leaves on the tree’s are already half gone... The cold tempreature’s & wind storm in the Detroit area on Saturday took alot of them down, and unfortunately made me unable to attend the East Warren Avenue Farmer’s Market... I did work more over the weekend on Mozart on Ice, and I am working on Perspective Rainbow - which is a vocal & instrumental peice that I wrote back in 2004... This peice  is a side of being inspired after hearing another artist’s work... I will be putting the lyrics up... It took me only 20 minutes to the write the lyrics & one hour to score out the music, alhtough it is the next to most lengthy peice aside from Mozart on Ice... More details on how I arrived at this peice of music later...

Rehearsing tonight and continuing to work on the layout for ~ back pages ~ tommorrow...

I am starting to send out flyer’s to cafe’s & music venues throughout the coutry, so look for them in your area... Some cities that are already out there - Grand Rapids, Lansing, & Charlotte...

I will start to look at some open mic’s in the next week & will update here and all of my other pages when I do...

If you have a Facebook Page - please go to my artist page and add me...

30 October, 2009

Happy Halloween - I decided that for Halloween I will be going as a writer & musician - there’s a stretch...

Unfortunately due to the weather - I will not be performing at the East Warren Avenue Farmer’s Market... Being an uncovered outdoor event - tommorrow’s forecast is supposed to be the same as today’s with rain & wind - witch does make good conditions for a flute player... As this is their last market for the season - I will be one of the first artists on schedule for next season, and I will bring with me a full music set list... My preview for next years event’s will be my EP “projection in artistry” ~ window preview ~ ... Thank you so much to Heather the Marketing Director for the East Warren Avenue Farmer’s Market for inviting me... I may show up without my music - will not know until the morning...

I will begin open mics next month & I am looking to shoot video sometime next week...

I am continuing to work on ~ back pages ~ ...

I hope that everyone has a safe & fun Halloween...

27 October, 2009

It’s a cloudy cool day in the Metro area this morning...

I was working more on Mozart on Ice last night in all three movements... Getting ready to shoot some video for this peice... I will keep you up to date... More myspace in between updates... I am still working on ~ back pages ~ & apologize for the slow process, although it’s a benefit of being independent - to make sure I have everything the way “I” want it in the end product... The one thing that I am priviliged & love about being a professional independent artist, is that I can sit in front of people and get to know every person that walks up to me, and that when I get an email, I can personally answer you at anytime... I love that my writing can reach out, and I will know every person it reaches...

The East Warren Avenue Farmer’s Market is still up in the air, & I will not know until the day before, so I will include this in my next update...

E’ tu en tonto beni oggi...

22 October, 2009

It’s a cloudy but warmer morning in the Motorcity today... I did a blog last night on myspace - you can start to look for them more often in between my website updates... I like to write in complete sentences - excusing the 140 character allowance on Twitter which sometimes feels like your $15.00 that your parents gave you at the end of the week for house chores and yard work...

I spent Tuesday at Webster Elementary School & was honored to be their Guest Artist for National Writer’s Day... What an amazing group of children they were - I was so excited to be there to perform for them & listen to them read their writing... They had alot of questions that I wish I could have answered all of them, although I will be returning for a future event... Thank you again to Sue for inviting me & to the students for being such an outstanding audience...

I am working still working on the bookstores for Florida & California & want to make sure that the store I choose will carry ~ pages ~ & my handouts for at least a year to give everyone in the area a chance to visit the bookstore & get a copy...

I am rehearsing this afternoon & enjoying the last few days of warmer weather...

19 October, 2009

It’s a sunny but cold morning in Detroit today - a high of 59 is the warmest it’s been in the last two weeks... At least its not snow...

I went out to Vendor Appreciation Day at the Milford Farmer’s Market on Thursday, although the cloudy-cold-damp-rainy day did not make for a good occasion and only the selling Farmer’s were there... I did buy some great cinnamon bread and rasberry preserves, but did not last long in the weather... The Milford Farmer’s Markets last day is next Thursday the 22 October...  The Farmer’s Market’s at this time of year are a day to day wait & see event... I am booked into the East Warren Avenue Farmer’s Market next Saturday 31 October from 11:00am-1:00pm, and will have to wait & see if it will be warm enough to perform - I will let you know...

I am rehearsing this week, and working on new bookstores for Florida & California...

Working on more music this week and bookstores... I will be out at the Milford Farmer’s Market tommorrow for a short time as part of their Vendor Appreciation Day...

Weather permitting - I will also be at the East Warren Avenue Farmer’s Market on Saturday the 31 October... It feels more like winter than fall right, so hopefully that will change...

12 October, 2009

It’s a partly cloudy Monday already and I am working on my music today and email updates... I am honored to be heading over to the New Webster School on Wednesday for a tour and meeting to set up an appearance as a guest artist... The original Webster Elementary is the school that put an instrument in my hand at age 11, and now it hosts a program for gifted & challenged children... I am looking forward to the chance to go back and say thank you...

I spoke with Tim the manager of the Schuler Books & Music  28th Street store - he told me that the Bookmark Handouts and copies of ~ pages ~ are available in the local author section on very nice front display... If you are in the area stop in - see Tim and pick one up... Schuler 28th Street is their largest bookstore in the Grand Rapids area...

I am going to go Twitter & have lunch...

It is supposed to be a rainy weekend in the Motorcity, so much for Cider Mill Trips until next week... The tree’s are just starting to turn...

I have been working the week on my music and I will be attending some open mic’s in the next few weeks... My first open mic will be the Coffee Beanery on Woodward Ave. in Berkley, Michigan and at some point before the holiday’s I will head down to the Park Bar for my much needed promise to attend their open mic... The Park Bar hosted my flyer’s & handouts a while ago, and I wanted to get back their sooner than I have, but wanted to make sure the music was right...

Have you gotten a copy of ~ pages ~ yet??? Please let me know when you do...

It’s October already, and everything is coming up Autumn... I am updating a day early with a few different items...

I was working on my music last night from ~ window preview ~ , and continue to do so... With most of the Farmer’s Markets out of the way for the season, I am putting in more time to complete the EP... Working in the third movement of Mozart on Ice last night and Pentatonic...

I will be sending out the Postcard Handouts to the Schuler Books & Music on 28th Street this weekend...

On Monday - I entered the Photo Contest for the Farmer’s Market Publication Magazine out of  MSU - I will know later this month if it is chosen... My photo entered was the one I took of the Vandalia Garden Urban Farmer’s... If you scroll down to the 01 June entry - you can see the picture... If my photo is chosen, it will appear in media and publication magazines for Farmer’s... Pictured above in the first photo is some of the vendors and the second the photo is La Zandra White - the Director of the Milford Farmer’s Market...

An extremely windy and stormy day yesterday for the Milford Farmer’s Market... It started out in uncertainy with alot weather - the afternoon allowed the market to take place, but not without alot wind that made for a challenging two peice music performance which stopped me a couple of times... A very quiet few hours, as some people were not sure if the weather would hold out on a busy storm day... Beautiful church bells rang at 6:00pm that you will be able to hear when you go to my You Tube Channel for the video I took - www.youtube.com/user/zandeartistryllc ... I will be returning to the market before the end of the season as the weather kept alot of people away, so La Zandra invited me back... The return date will be set sometime in the next week ... Thank you so much to LaZandra and the Milford Farmer’s Market for having me yesterday, and inviting me back...

Sending out copies of ~ pages ~ to a bookstore in Tampa, Florida next week for review - will let you know if it’s accepted...

The Schuler Books & Music 28th Street location in Grand Rapids, Michigan will be carrying the printed version of ~ pages ~ starting in two weeks... Thank you so much to Tim Smith - the new Manager of the 28th Street store for requesting them...

I am currently working with a bookstore in Tampa, Florida to be considered for having ~pages ~ featured in their store & possibly a bookstore in Miami - I will let you know if they decide to take it... I partly grew up along the Gulf side, so my favorite spots are Carvel’s - Howard Park and the Winn Dixie (okay Flordian’s - it’s the Publix or Winn Dixie debate - guess who wins in my book)...

The other excerpt for ~ back pages ~ will go up this weekend on myspace... I was not able to change my profile picture on Twitter until yesterday...

You can now join me on Facebook - www.facebook.com/people/victoriazande/1546905379 .... My disclaimer to this page is that I am still a “work in progress”, yeah I know - for a tech major, I am a bit slow to master the page configurations... Once I understand the parameter’s - I can list the page address, so that you can access it directly...

My Milford Farmers Market performance is next week and I have working my way back towards a larger music set... If you checked my Twitter Page this weekend - I posted a good Jeff Beck You Tube Video in three parts... I also just booked one more Farmers Market for this year - The East Warren Avenue Farmers Market - located at the corner of Bishop & East Warren Avenue... I am still working a bookstore in the Bay Area (where I lived for a brief period), and I am also working on a bookstore in Florida... Come out and join me this Saturday 1 August from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Coffee Beanery in Berkley, Michigan... It is supposed to be a nice day with finally - some summer tempreatures... The Coffee Beaney is located on Woodward Avenue between 11 Mile and 12 Mile Roads on the South Side of Woodward in Berkley... I would advise you take one of the Mile Road’s to Woodward as there is alot of Freeway Construction on the weekends - 12 Mile is one of the best roads if travelling from either the East or West side’s... You can get more information on my Appearances Page... I will have both version’s of ~ pages ~ available, as well as my Bookmark & Postcard Handouts, and I will be signing everything... Copies will sell for $5.00 with $1.00 per copy sold donated to help dogs with neurological conditions... Thank you again to Greg the owner for inviting me back to the Coffee Beanery for another booksigning...

I  was finally able to put back up some of the pictures on my Random page, and will be adding more entry’s next week... I am still working on the Bay Area booktore - will let you know when I have one... I am currently looking in the city or somewhere on the East Bay... Rehearsing this afternoon...

It’s almost August - can I please have four more month’s of summer, so I can get May and June back at a warmer sun... This weekend I will be back at the Coffee Beanery on Saturday for another visit to sign copies of ~ pages ~... I will have everything available - copies will sell for $5.00 and I will also sign any bookmark or postcard handouts... Please come out and join me ... This cafe sell’s the stainless steel coffee travel mugs that are great for anything you take with you - they are slightly expensive, but a good investment... They also have nice ceramnic coffee mugs from artist’s... I hope that you have had a chance to listen to the WCFX Interview I uploaded on Friday on my Press & Interview Page - can you tell I was “ummm” nervious - I don’t think I said that enough during the interview... Angie Evan’s was very nice in allowing me some air time for my work... Reheasing this afternoon, and working on getting a bookstore in the California Bay Area to sell ~pages~ today...

If you have a twitter  page - please come over and follow me at www.twitter.com/victoriazande ... I just created a facebook - for some reason I ended up with a personal facebook page and I am still working on getting that changed... I am still trying to figure out how everything works, and the address where you can find me - I will let you know when I do...

I finally figured out how to load the WCFX Mount Pleasant, Michigan Interview, and it is now up - please visit my press & interview’s page to listen... I had a list of influences such as Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck for the Triple Play Take Over, although you had to pick from their in rotation hit list, so I chose artist’s who had similar guitar influences with mine... Thank you again to Angie Evans for sending me a copy to share...

The Bookmark Handouts are now available at Schuler Books & Music in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan - stop in and pick one up if you are in the area...

I wish it would be a warmer summer... Yesterday started at 63 degrees, and this morning I wore a summer sweatshirt - sorry but if it’s going to be summer, let’s have some heat... A Michigan summer is about 2.5 weeks long :)... This afternoon should be 78 degree’s - the sun is out so that’s a good thing...

Worked on the Bookmark Handouts for Schuler Books & Music in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan yesterday - they will be available at the end of this week in their store... Thank you so much to Neil & Tyler the manager’s at the Schuler downtown store for featuring them... I am currently rehearsing to complete my EP and will be attending some open mic’s ... I am still working on how to upload the interview that Angie Evans sent me from WCFX - once I know - I will post it...

My next event will be going back to the Coffee Beanery in Berkley for a Satuday booksigning on 1 August from 10:00am-2:00pm...

Maybe I should have put my duffle bag away before I took a picture of my table display??? It was a hot 97 degrees on Wednesday, as I wore a big hat a 30spf sunscreen and a big pair of sunglasses... .My fingers actually stuck to the keys when I first started to play, which did not make for a constant flow of sound... I spoke with alot of shoppers, and met some very nice farmer’s and merchant’s that travel all summer for their businesses...  I was fortunate to be sharing a tent with Wayne Metro who is the official sponsor of the Taylor Farmer’s Market... This was their kick-off event - in the photo’s above are the ribbon cutting ceremony with the Mayor of Taylor who came over and introduced himself to me and shook my hand - a nice man who was excited to see a Farmer’s Market in his city... The last picture is Janet Hoffman - one of the Farmer’s and a BeeKeeper for her business Hoffman’s Honey ~ Beeswax... I liked her Bee Headband and her Honeybear as I am a huge Honey fan and buy only locally grown honey... Her and her Husband George handmake all of their own honey, wax candles and things that they bring to every Farmer’s Market - look for them if you visit one of the markets...  Thank you again to Shirley Moore - the Director of Wayne Metro who headed the concept for the Taylor Farmer’s Market...

I am back to Brighton on the 6 July for another booksigning at the Coffee Beanery in Brighton, Michigan in support of a bookclub from 10:30am-12:00pm... More details next week...

I had a busy two hours on Sunday at the Redford Farmer’s Market... In the second photo above are the Vandalia Gardens Urban Farmer’s, LLC company - just one of the many Farmer’s in attendance... What a nice family - they helped me move my table twice as it was a cold day despite the sun you see behind you... I was literally freezing and had a hard time getting my fingers around the notes when playing... This family has some great plants and vegtables, and they will be following me to the Taylor Farmer’s Market on 24 June... If you want to reach them as they do not have a website you can phone them at 616-302-0319... It was a nice two hours at the Coffee Beanery in Warren, Michigan yesterday... It snowed as I was just getting to Hoover Road from 696 - that spring snow that lasts for about an hour and then disappears - it can stop snowing anytime now... Alot of construction along the East side exit ramps - I still cannot get used to 11 Mile Road being next to a freeway - I am used to taking Eight Mile or 94... Kind of cold and kept the cafe quite... This is a very nice Eastside Cafe with friendly people and big comfortable chairs... The East Side of Detroit is a vast place for exceptional local/national music/vocalists’/artists’ and events...Thank you again to Michelle and April for all of your help... I may be going back over the summer to this cafe - will let you know... My next booksigning will be at the Coffee Beanery on Woodward Ave in Berkley on the 25 April from 11:00am-2:00pm...

As I briefly posted on Friday - I just got a new bookstore in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan... Schuler Books & Music on Fountain N.W. - please stop in and visit them if you are downtown... I am working on an event at this bookstore, and will let you know...

I am continuing to work on finishing the music and over the next four to six weeks will hopefully be putting up  Mozart on Ice in all three movements...

Once again the Michigan Winter Storms postponed my Booksigning at Schuler Books & Music on Saturday in Lansing... At one point in the morning the I-96 and I-496 Freeways were shut down due to the weather and accidents - AAA reported 5300 calls and that was just for half the day... A 50 car pile up on I-94 near Ann Arbor and Jackson closed that Freeway and shut down the other half of I-496 in the afternoon... To say Michigan has had an extreme amount snow this season would be an understatement.... Next week I am renting some Husky’s and a Sled for better milage and traction...  I will be re-scheduling the booksigning for Schuler Books & Music this week - the re-schedule date will still take place on a Saturday from 1-3pm - probably next month, and I will post it next week after I confirm the new date with Whitney...

This Saturday is my re-scheduled booksigning/bookreading/small music performance at the Book Mark in Mount Pleasant from 1-3pm - it looks like it’s going to be a nice day - just slightly cold... My bookreading/booksigning/music performance at the Book Mark in Mount Pleasant on Saturday had to be postponed due to the winter storm that hit the southeast/metro Detroit area... The roads were extremely hazardess on Saturday morning - when I made an attempt to travel up to Mount Pleasant... Ramps and sections of the freeway in the metro area where being shut down due to road coniditions and accidents... The local news stations reported that AAA received 4800 calls for road assistance between Saturday and Sunday... Raodways’ kept reicing for almost 24 hours... I apologize to anyone in the Mount Pleasant area that made it out to the Book Mark... I did call the Book Mark on Friday night when the winter storm watch had been posted in my area and again on Saturday from the road... I will be rescheduling this date next week as Kris - the Manager of the Book  Mark is off this week  - I will let everyone know the new date when I have it... Thank you so much to Holly and Sarah at the Book Mark for your assistance in letting people know... Thank you so much to Ashley and Barry at the CMU Bookstore for posting and reposting my flyers... Only eight more weeks of winter - maybe I should go down and stay with my family in Port Richey - even at 68 degree’s you can drive to the strawberry stands and not have to go through snow & ice... I normally like four season’s - I think we are getting an extra one this year...

Happy 2009...

~ 9:57am ~

26 December, 2008

I hope everyone had a good Christmas...

Just before Christmas I loaded my core version for the peice I wrote titled “Mozart on Ice” recorded in the first movement...

Here is a behind the notes history of how I created “Mozart on Ice” -

It took me over a period of three years to write and complete the scoring ~ dynamics ~ tempo for Mozart on Ice... Written in three movements - my inspiration came from my classical training and after watching Boyd Tinsley (a classically trained artist) from the Dave Matthews Band perform his volin solo during a perfomance of “Trippin Billies” from a Music Choice special in 2002... I wrote this peice from 2002~2005 and along with the rest of my music from Projection in Artistry ~ “Window Preview” (a registered copyright of 2007) - now completing the finishing studio work at Big Sky Studios in Ann Arbor with my Engineer Chris Duross - www.bigskyrecording.com ... I will be loading the complete version with all three movements - somewhere between January and Feburary... Thank you to Boyd Tinsley for his artistic creativity that assisted in my inspiration... I hope you enjoy listening to the core version - please send me an email or comment in my guestbook...

Next update on Tuesday or Wednesday...

The concrete dates for my Open Mic performances (if I get a spot) are 18 February - The Plymouth Coffee Bean - downtown Plymouth and 12 March - The Park Bar - downtown Detroit - visit my appearances page for location and time details... Yes, I will be nervous - Open Mic performances bring somewhat of a more captive audience than cafe performances... The Park Bar hosts some of the best artist’s in their Open Mic’s - I hope I fit the seat as good as the artist before me and the one that performs after me... I will be listing other Open Mic’s soon... Still working on the printed version for ~ pages~... Backpages excerpt will be up soon... Hope to see some of you at the Open Mic’s...

Performance at The Urban Mill Cafe was slightly shorter than anticipated - nice... Many people attended... I handed out my bookmark/information booklets and got to speak with alot of you - thank you to everyone who came out for lunch and to listen... The acoustics once again - assisted me in resonation... Thank  you so much to Matt and Tom at the Urban Mill Cafe for having me...

I now have a page on the Michigan Artist’s website - it’s located under the genre “unclassified” - you can visit it at - www.michiganaritsts.com/victoriazande ...

October 2007

18 October, 2007

Music and Reading Performance Saturday at The Urban Mill Cafe... The Urban Mill Cafe is located across from Van Andel Arena...

I am starting out small with the live version of “re~verb” from my 2006 performance at the Urban Mill Cafe last year... This is a version completely unedited or mixed in its core form... Any live versions you hear are not mastered in anyway... They are taken straight from tape to CD upload conversion... The acoustic’s are so good at this cafe - you don’t really need any amplification - this sound is pure wall to wall resonation...

“re~verb” is a dedication and inspired peice to my private flute instructor Cathy who played for The Detroit Symphony  - she taught me classical flute and scoring for almost a year at age 14, and introduced me to my Gemeinhardt Conservatory French Model... Thank you Cathy - it was amazing to learn from you...

I hope you like it - please comment in the guestbook and let me know what you think???

Thank you so much for reading and listening...

In the studio at Big Sky Recording Ann Arbor -

photo’s taken by: victoria zande

16 August, 2007

I have been listening to everything lately from the side of a recording studio... Listening to a song on the radio and wondering what that artist was doing and how they broke down their sound under the microphone... Sunday night I watched about 15 minute of a PBS special with Tony Bennett when he recorded his collaboration CD... He and Billy Joel talked about how much harder it is to perform in the studio as opposed to a live audience... Then - Elvis Presley discussed this same subject in a TV Land special of interviews...

I am going to add the core version of Re~verb  - as the studio transfer to my live version in the studio did not fare well... Hope you like... Over the next three to four weeks I will post a few days before I go down to The Park Bar for their Open Mic... Pictures from inside Big Sky on the way...

Thank you so much for reading...

~ 1:17pm ~

12 August, 2007

Twice in the studio with Big Sky Studios - sometimes you accomplish everything and sometimes you accomplish “somethings”... I am attempting to upload two peices of music - this may load easier on my “my space” page - check both places... It’s nice to be in the studio with a Neumann mic built in 1967... Mozart on Ice (first movement - did well) I hope you like the first sounds - I will add more later... Re~verb will also be added... Please comment in the guestbook and let me know what you think... I am booked into the Urban Mill Cafe in October in downtown Grand Rapids - this will be a lunch time performance on 20 October... I will officially post the date in a few weeks... I will be sending bookmark/information handouts and postcard handouts in the next few weeks...

More studio time on the way and another update...

June 2007

19 June, 2007

Still working towards my studio dates for the final tracks on my EP... It’s amazing the context in which I am listening to songs at this moment - like the infused chords of each note on a page inspire the words and time for what I am doing...

Less than three weeks to go...

Open mic’s on the way... Soon...

Thank you so much for reading...

~12:20pm ~

02 June, 2007

Bookmark Handouts/Information Booklets will be delayed by a few days - all locations should have them by Wednesday or Thursday... Open Mic’s dates in the next week or so - look them for them here and on my “my space” page... Studio time set for June...

If you are downtown - drop in and see the people at The Park Bar, and pick-up one of my postcard handouts... This place supports local music and reminds me of some of the true small music venues that Detroit is known for... I will be visitng them to perform at an Open Mic in the next few weeks...

My postcard handouts will also be available at The Plymouth Coffee Bean starting this week - stop in and pick one up...

I am once again attempting to host “re~verb” one of the songs off my forthcoming EP that was recorded last June when I performed at the Urban Mill Cafe... This version is completely “un-cut” and in raw form as to when I first started to play and perform it, although it has great grit in this form - you can hear the unfinished pieces that provide the null space... It is what I call one of my “Rough Cuts” off a CD I put together with my cousin Jeff via his in home equipment - thank you “DOC of Rock”...

Open Mic dates in the next week...

Please sign and comment in the guestbook - I like to know what you think...

Thank you so much for reading and visiting...

Studio time has been re-scheduled for the first week in June - this will delay the release of my EP by two weeks - I apologize for the delays - hopefully the delay’s will produce a more complete piece of work... 25 March, 2007

I am having a software problem with the webdesign software, so if my website is less than right now - I am working on it... I did not want to go another week in the middle of a record release with an un-updated site... When I know more about the new upload procedure in this - the updates will be out sooner...

I will be attempting an “Open Stage” at The Ark on the 4 April... The Ark is an exceptionally popular Open Stage - it is not guarenteed that I will get to perform... I will be dropping in on Trixie’s Open Mic in the next week or two, and I will post it here and on my “my space” page - look for it on my “my space page” first as it maybe an “hours before” event... Trixie’s Cafe and Coffee and Xhedos have “call ahead” schedules - I will able to give a time... I may also be heading downtown to the Park Bar just before Chicago - if I do not make this open mic - I will definitely be attending one with a couple of weeks of my Chicago performance... Over the holidays - I visited the Book Cellar & Cafe in downtown Plymouth to drop off copies of my Bookmark/Information Booklet’s for customers... As I walked in on Friday, and waited for Nada to get free from behind the counter - I was once again reimbursed as to why I do this... People sitting in the cafe having coffee and reading a potential book buy - people surfing the internet on the free high-speed that is offered - people walking around and looking at what is the latest thing - just being out to enjoy the day... I do this not only for my love of writing/creating/desigining - for my love for sharing, and having people share back by saying thank you...

Thank you to Nada and the Book Cellar & Cafe - I enjoy sitting in the middle of it...

~10:29 AM~

14 December, 2006

I have been spending alot of time doing the late night musical drive-through - falling asleep on Monday night with my flute in my hand, - waking-up to put it back in case...  I am starting the first of two songs on the full CD.... The tracks for the EP are pulling together - I haven’t been short of the early AM clock in about two weeks, with the exception of workout night - in which it bothers me to take the night off in the middle of a sentence...

~9:49am~

06 December, 2006

I never consider anything in music easy - I never consider anything done...

Even if it is a peice I have written and played many times - I still consider it work - to make it work...

I am always working on something - always writing... If I think I am going to sit back and just work on existing music and writing I have - I am always writing more... There is always more... More to be done - more that exists - I am in the middle of playing through something right now - the thought of the thought that keeps me playing brought me to write this... More wakes me up at 2:00am or 3:00am and invities me to write - more keeps me up until 2:00am inviting me to play... A piece may be complete in concrete form - when I sit or stand to play - I want to make sure it will play well and reach out ot pull people in...

~2:50pm~

02 december, 2006

I donated four signed copies to Housing Works Book Cafe in New York on Monday... Look for them in you drop-in to look around... They have some good artist’s and events going on for the holidays...  I really like it when I can help the homeless and people living with hiv... (see my location’s page for information about Housing Works)

I always think about the homeless more in the winter - not having a warm place to go to when it is 20 degree’s and the wind is kicking you in the backside... I always become sad to think that homeless shelter’s turn people away when the snow is blowing.... It would be nice if every shelter just said - okay you can sleep on the bathroom floor - at least there is heat... My cousin has a freind who take’s clothers and hands them out to people living on the street in the winter... When I went down to Comerica Park to take pictures for the World Series - the downtown area has really been built up and is beautiful - it’s the “before you arrive section’s” where you see people living in abandon buildiings with no water and furniture - when you know they dream about being able to shop for any kind of food they want, and don’t have to choose between a loaf of bread and package of cheese...

No one should be homeless...

You should never sing directly after eating a turkey sandwich... Thanksgiving was nice - lots of family... I am working on the first two songs this week - I started to do this a few weeks ago and then pulled it back for a closer look... This is my first record and it’s interesting to learn as I go - sometimes it’s like walking thorugh a dark room and searching for the nite-lite... The music helps you feel your way into unknown spaces so the chair is getting more com[ortable to sit-in...

I changed the colors on my logo for the holiday’s so this is what my greeting cards look like...

I will be putting up the discussion board in March - I am sorry this has taken so  long - I really look forward to giving people a place to comment and ask questions...

Three - four weeks into projection in artistry ~ window preview ~... It’s going good... If I stand here  - I could talk all day about the technical and creative in what I am doing and want to do to complete this EP... I am also working on the CD at the same time.... I hope it is well received when it is done... I have spent four years writing and scoring the music and lyrics to both the EP and CD... They are not identical - still related... The EP introduces my work with an infinite number of sides in an edgier room... I love to write and create - yes there are vocal peices on the EP - I like to pull mainstream into my work - it’s the influence of the years of listening - writing and the inspriation of many who have inspired me... I love all genre’s of music - good music is good music...

As you read most of my current performances - are a combination of my writng/poetry collection and music... I guess you could say I broke my own rule of “I don’t read my poetry at performances...” The original idea was to perform my music and let you buy the small preview collection I put together - take it home - sit in a corner and read it... I will eventually stop reading from my collection and create sole music performances (with the exception of bookstores)... It’s just my own personal theory - soliatary words sit better on their own - music is meant to be shared... Music is a 360 life performance - words are consumed by the reader...

I have been giving away the bookmarks and aritist work and infomation that I desgined for almost a year - look for these at my performances - they are out next to the writing/poetry collection...

Last year - October 2005 - I did my first event to promote my writing/poetry preview colletion at the Book Mark in Mount Pleasant... Kris the manager and I were talking about what I could do for the in store promotion - she suggested I put my book infomration on a bookmark... I created a basic bookmark with just the title and name on it - over the past year I kept re-designing it until this final design that I am nowing using to promote my writing/music... The bookmark detaches from the information book... I have just started to hand these out when I do an event or perform... If you are interested in having one - send me an email at order@victoriazande.com with your name and address, and I will mail one out to you...

I will be sending some of these up to the Book Mark in Mount Pleasant this week - look for them on the front counter...

I love what I do - I am so amazed sometimes that I took such a long vacancy from creativity... Chicago was amazing - such a warm and welcoming city - everyone is so friendly... My first time being there to see the Lake Shore Drive at sunset from a taxi ride on my way to perform, and feel the energy in the heart of a midwestern blues town... So many places I did not get to see - when you are working its a limited view... I will definitely have to visit as a spectator... I will be back again to play the Bourgeois Pig Cafe... This is an exceptionally inviting place - everyone made my performance a good one... I played for 35 minutes and read from ~pages ~ ... I introduced a cover tune that I have been working on - its a work in progress that will expand over time...

Thank you so much Chicago - see you again soon...
